History

Capt John's Crabhouse was established by Capt. John's Shymansky in 1963. It was built on its present location by the water in Cobb Island to take full advantage of the local Oyster, fish and crab trades. Located on the waterfront it also provides a well protected harbor for dinners arriving by boat and a beautiful waterfront destination for others.

Family management along with long term trusted employees help provide an attention to service and quality unmatched by others.

Capt. John's is a true southern Maryland Crabhouse serving hot steaming local crabs by the tray full in season. Over the years the menu has grown to includes such favorites as crab cakes, fried shrimp,scallops,local rock fish and oysters almost anyway you like. The menu also includes a full line of sandwiches and land lover dinners such as steak and chicken. Capt. John's is open a 7 days year round.

Capt. John's also provides an outdoor waterfront open air dining experience. We also have a small boardwalk with benches so you can relax after you meal and enjoy the waterfront atmosphere. Capt. John's is a landmark in the southern Maryland seafood industry and A trip to Capt. John's can quickly become a family favorite.
